Whichever version of the Windows Installer I use, it can't detect the location to install. Furthermore, when I find it by browsing and I accept the terms and condition, the "install" button is grayed out and cannot be clicked to start the process.

I know about the problem in finding the location automatically sometimes. However, the manual version is also quite easy do deal with: you just need to browse to the folder where you installed GIMP 2.8. For example, for me it's "C:\Programmi\Gimp 2". When you get there, you'll see that the "install" button will become active.
Does not work, even "portable" version. The "Install" button do not activate. Win7(x64). Standard 2.8.0 gimp .
Why do the installer "check" anything and dont let us choose the gimp path ?
Sorry, my bad, I forgot I got Gimp x64 -> it was in Programmes, not in Program Filtes(x86)…
Install worked smoothly as soon as I gave the good path.
Your program is damn good !
Thank you !
